Ings Library: SEND Happy Doodles Workshop

Hull Libraries

A summary
Step into the wonderful world of Happy Doodles — Relaxed & Sensory-Friendly Session!
Join author, illustrator, and founder of Happy Doodles, Jodie Smith, for a gentle, creative session inspired by her beautiful children's picture book, Bipolar Blob. This is a relaxed, sensory-friendly version of our doodling workshop, specifically designed for children who benefit from a quieter, more supported environment. With a smaller group size and a gentle pace, children are invited to listen to the story and create their own "blob" character in their own time—choosing shapes and colours that represent their unique emotions.
There is no right or wrong way to doodle, and no drawing experience is needed! This session is a warm, mindful introduction to emotional wellbeing through storytelling, where all abilities are welcome to come and express themselves.
This inclusive session is designed for children and young people who have a disability, are neurodivergent, or experience anxiety. While our standard recommendation is for ages 4–11 years, if you feel your child outside of this age range would enjoy or benefit from this specific environment, please do bring them along!
For safety and comfort, we politely request that children are accompanied by only one adult to prevent crowding in the activity space. Please do not bring siblings to the event unless they have a pre-booked place.
