A summary
We’ve put together a dynamic schedule designed to help children build essential skills and boost their confidence ahead of their ice-skating sessions. Each day will be packed with engaging sporting activities, carefully planned to enhance coordination, agility, and a wide range of transferable skills. These will be put into practice on the ice, where our experienced staff will guide children through basic skating techniques to improve their overall skating experience. To complement the physical activities, guided arts and crafts sessions will be included throughout the day. These creative activities are designed to encourage self-expression, build confidence, and provide a fun and relaxing outlet.

About your mentor
National Ice Centre
Welcoming, Dynamic and Supportive
Located in the heart of Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, the National Ice Centre (NIC) is the UK’s first facility to feature two Olympic-sized ice rinks. Officially opened in April 2000 by Olympic gold medallist Jayne Torvill, the centre was built on the site of the former Nottingham Ice Stadium and has since become a hub for both recreational and elite ice sports. The NIC is home to a wide range of activities including ice skating, ice hockey, figure skating, and speed skating, and serves as the training base for the GB Short Track Speed Skating Squad. It also houses the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, a major venue for concerts and live events. With a strong focus on community engagement, sustainability, and youth development, the National Ice Centre continues to inspire the next generation of skaters while offering fun and accessible experiences for all ages.
Useful Information
For drop off and collections please enter via the public skating entrance on Bolero Square. Our Holiday Club includes a wide range of sporting activities, so we recommend that children wear comfortable and suitable clothing throughout the day. For off-ice activities, t-shirts, leggings, shorts, or jogging bottoms are ideal, paired with trainers for safe movement. As part of the day includes ice skating, we suggest bringing extra layers such as a hoodie or fleece to keep warm on the ice. Children are welcome to bring their own ice skates if they have them, although skates will be provided if needed.
