About H.O.P.E in Community H.O.P.E in Community was founded in 2017 as a local community group and has continued to grow from strength to strength. In 2020, we became a registered charity under the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) model. Over the years, our dedication to supporting the community has been recognised through several prestigious awards. We were honoured to receive the Proud of Barnsley Charity of the Year Award in 2021, and in 2023 we achieved the King’s Award for Voluntary Service — the highest award a charity can receive in its own right, equivalent to an MBE. That same year, we were also nominated by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) for HAF Provider of the Year. Our Projects and Services We deliver a range of projects designed to meet the needs of our community, including: Cooking on a Budget Course Holiday, Activity and Food Programme (locally known as Healthy Holidays) Hope and Giggles – Stay and Play sessions for babies and toddlers Listening Service Carers’ Garden Social Club St George’s Drop-In Period and Fuel Poverty Support Foodbank Referral Agent In addition, we operate a Charity Shop, which has provided vital support for our work. Sadly, the shop will be closing at the end of January 2026.

Hi! I’m Peter, Founder of H.O.P.E in Community. I look after all our sessions and make sure you’re having fun while staying safe. I’m also the Data Protection Officer and Health and Safety Officer, so your information and your safety are always my top priorities. Plus, I handle bookings and send out reminders to help you keep on track!
