What we'll do
The Active Leader course is a practical training course to help young people aged 14-16 build leadership qualities, confidence and employability skills. We do this by training them to lead younger children in fun activity which can be applied to a whole range of pathways. The modules covered throughout the week include: 1. Being a leader 2. Keeping safe 3. Building your confidence to lead 4. CPR and first aid 5. Leading an activity session 6. Adapting, being inclusive and creating games 7. Planning and organising 8. Running a mini event 9. Learning about marketing and budgeting 10. Personal Development including workplace readiness and next steps. The Course is Monday 4 August to Friday 8 August, 9.30am to 3pm with attendance required every day in order to complete the training and receive the certificate and personal reference. The main venue will be our offices in Castle Quay with practical sessions taking place a short walk away in Spiceball Park. You will be provided with lunch during the sessions. Please note that once your place has been approved you will be sent the Active Leader registration form to fill in with further details including dietary requirements, emergency contact details, access requirements, medical information and sizing for a free t-shirt that will be provided. The HAF Programme is intended for children who are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals; and that each eligible child is entitled to 16 days over the summer holidays.
