Future Engineers - Youth Club

Our Holiday Club for 12–16-year-olds offers a focused, engaging STEM experience designed specifically for teenagers who want to explore science, technology, engineering, and maths alongside like-minded peers in a shorter, more flexible day.

Running from 11am to 2pm, this session is ideal for young people who want to dive into STEM without committing to a full-day programme. The later start allows for a more relaxed morning as participants make their way to the museum, and the earlier finish means they head home before energy levels dip—leaving them feeling inspired rather than tired.

Across the session, teenagers will have the opportunity to explore hands-on STEM challenges linked to real-world innovation, sustainable design, coding, and engineering. With support from our Learning Team and visiting STEM professionals, participants will be encouraged to think creatively, problem-solve, and collaborate in a supportive environment.

What does a typical session look like?

11:00am – 11:15am
Arrival, registration, and settling in

11:15am – 12:30pm
Facilitated STEM-inspired activities led by our Learning Team and STEM professionals. Sessions are designed to be hands-on, challenging, and relevant to real-world STEM pathways.

12:30pm – 1:00pm
Lunch break in a relaxed, social setting with peers

1:00pm – 2:00pm
Continuation of morning activities, allowing participants to develop ideas further, refine projects, or explore new STEM challenges

This shorter-format club is designed to give teenagers the freedom to focus deeply on STEM interests without a full-day commitment, while still benefiting from expert guidance, practical experimentation, and collaborative working.

It’s a chance to meet others who share similar interests, build confidence in STEM skills, and experience exciting, real-world applications of science and technology—all within a dynamic and supportive museum environment.

When you arrive at Coventry Transport Museum, please make your way to the main reception area, which is a large desk area as you enter through the rotating doors.

You will see a member of our staff, wearing a purple CV Life uniform. This person works in the ticket area of the museum.

Let them know that you are here to attend the HAF programme and they will direct you to our Learning and Engagement Team, who will check you against the register and lead you to the workshop area.

Parent's are not required to stay, but they are welcome should the young person need their support.

Snacks and drinks are available during the day, but we do recommend bringing your own bottle of water with you too. Lunch will be served in the museum café, where your child can enjoy the social environment of the museum. This will be supervised by our team, with children seated together around a large table for relaxed time together. When you arrive in the morning, your child will have a menu with three hot meal options to choose from.

If your child is arriving and leaving independently please make us aware of this.

We offer a relaxed and nurturing environment, where children can spend time exploring their interests in STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and develop their practical skills. critical thinking and experimenting with ideas through practical activities.

You will have the opportunity to explore the museum, guided by our Learning and Engagement team, where they will help your child make connections between the museum collections and the STEM links to them.

Your child will meet with other young people who share similar interests, and hopefully make friends along the way. For anyone who prefers to work independently, we will respect this and ensure you have space to enjoy your time with us in your own way.
