Newham Sports Club Futsal Academy - Autumn Term 2026

Weekly futsal coaching for Reception and Year 1, following our published 5-16 futsal curriculum.

WHEN: Mondays, 5-6pm

WHERE: Rokeby School, Barking Road, London E16 4DD

TERM: 14 sessions, Mon 7 September to Mon 14 December. No session at half term (26-30 October).

COST: £70 for the full term, or £10 for a single session.

PLACES: 12

THIS TERM - Foundation & Play

Block 1 (Sep-Oct) Hello Ball, Hello Court: children settle into the academy and start treating the ball as something they control rather than something they chase. "The ball is your friend - don't let it run away."

Block 2 (Nov-Dec) Off We Go: carrying the ball into space they have chosen, changing speed and direction to keep hold of it. "Small touches, big eyes."

WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL WORK ON

• Rolls, stops and taps with the sole of the foot
• Travelling with the ball into space instead of kicking and chasing
• The pull-back turn, and their first 1v1 duel
• Agility, balance and coordination - no lines, no queues
• Joining in independently and learning their teammates' names

BY DECEMBER YOU SHOULD SEE

The child who chased the ball in September is now the one deciding where it goes, carrying it into open space instead of kicking it away and running after it.

PLEASE NOTE

Our Monday academy groups move at pace, and not every child will be ready for that straight away. Where a coach feels a player would benefit from more time on the fundamentals, we may invite them to our Wednesday development session instead. It is always a coaching decision taken in the child's interest, and it is never permanent - players move between the two as they progress.
