FREE Halloween Half Term Workshops
Join us this October Half Term for SPOOKTACULAR! in Lewes - four days of free CRF Drama, Dance, Singing & Art, packed with creativity, imagination and Halloween magic!
Across the four days, children will take part in imaginative games, characters, stories, music, dance sequences and creative challenges, while making new friends and having lots of fun away from screens.
Led by Kaleidoscope’s experienced theatre and performing arts teachers, SPOOKTACULAR! offers a friendly and supportive environment where children can explore their imaginations, try something new, express themselves creatively and develop teamwork and social skills.
Children are welcome to come along in their favourite Halloween costume - witches, vampires, ghosts, monsters and anything wonderfully spooky are all encouraged!
All children are fully supervised throughout the workshops, and every teacher holds an Enhanced DBS certificate.
As well as paid places we are also delighted to be able to offer a number of FREE places with free lunches for this activity, which has been funded by the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) and coordinated by East Sussex County Council. Fully funded places are available for young people eligible for both targeted and expanded free school meals. This eligibility criteria has been defined by the Crisis Resilience Fund. Please note, eligibility will be confirmed as part of the booking process.

Important Information for Parents & Carers
We are very much looking forward to welcoming your child to our workshops.
Please read the information below carefully before the workshops begin.
Lunches
At lunchtime, we will walk the children across the road to the lovely playing fields at Priory School for supervised outdoor play.
Children attending through the HAF scheme will receive a FREE lunch and fruit snacks each day.
Important Allergy Information
We have children attending with severe nut allergies, so we operate a strict NO NUT POLICY. Please do not send any food containing nuts.
What to Wear
Please ensure your child wears comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, such as:

Please also bring something warm for outdoor breaks, such as a hoodie or fleece.
As we do lots of physical movement and dance work, skirts are not recommended as they can restrict movement.
Children should wear suitable footwear such as:

- Plimsolls
What to Bring
Please make sure your child brings:
- A named water bottle (we can refill it during the day)
Arrival & Drop Off
Please wait in the quadrangle outside the entrance to the Performing Arts Building at 10am, when we will welcome the children in.
We kindly ask that you do not arrive much earlier than 10am, as staff will still be setting up workshop spaces.
Parents and carers will say goodbye at the entrance. Due to safeguarding and child protection procedures, adults will not be able to enter the venue, so please prepare your child for this in advance.
Please make every effort to arrive on time so we can begin activities promptly.
If you arrive late, the front doors will be locked for safeguarding reasons. Please text or call Deirdre on 07963 478 393, and someone will come to the main entrance to let your child in.
Medication
If your child requires medication during the day, please:
- Send your child in first
- Wait until the other children have gone inside
- Hand the medication directly to Deirdre with clear written instructions attached
Emergency Contact Details
We already hold emergency contact information for all participants. However, if you have a different emergency contact number for a particular day, please text it to us that morning on 07963 478 393.
Collecting Your Child
Classes will be brought to the building entrance at 3.30pm, where staff will supervise children leaving with their adult.
Please:
- Arrive promptly for collection
- Wait outside the front entrance
If you are unexpectedly delayed, please text us on 07963 478 393.
If your child is aged 11+ and you are happy for them to walk home independently, please send a signed written note with them on the first day for Deirdre.
Please also make sure that anyone collecting your child knows the correct collection arrangements and times.
Photography & Social Media
As a performing arts organisation, we may occasionally take photographs or short videos during workshops to use on our website and social media pages.
We will never publish a child’s full name alongside images.

KALEIDOSCOPE - Award winning classes in Lewes 'We all loved the Summer School – such a feat in a short space of time! It was so well thought out and the children all performed brilliantly, clearly enjoying the experience and working as a team. Both of my children (5 and 11) want to return to Summer School again next year. Thank you Kaleidoscope!' Sally Jones (Parent) This year we will have two glorious weeks of Summer Schools which will culminate in a fabulous performance for family and friends. Children can come for as many days as you like - just one or two days, one week or two - it's up to you! Our Summer School is led by a fun-loving team of theatre professionals. Participants will learn new skills across a range of performing arts activities including:- Drama, Dance, Musical Theatre, Production Art, Animation and Puppetry. A typical Summer School day starts with a huge outdoor treasure hunt, and then we have some lively Drama warm up games which help break the ice and allow everyone to get to know each other a little better. Participants will then enjoy a series of performing arts workshops led by our specialist team. If the weather is fine, we all have lunch together under the shade of the trees, in the beautiful grounds of Priory School. After lunch it's time to play while fully supervised by our team. The afternoon workshops end with a games session to finish off the day. Older students are encouraged to work at a more challenging level so they can experience a real taste of life in the theatre industry. Younger children have longer breaks, more games and can work at their own level. Each class is supported by our enthusiastic team of Teaching Assistants. The activities are all structured to allow children to develop their confidence, and there are plenty of opportunities to make new friends. Our whole team love working creatively with the children and young people. Participants are fully supervised from the moment they arrive until they leave. All of our staff have Enhanced DBS certificates and all of our teachers are first aid trained. Our Summer Schools are very likely to sell out - so we suggest you book as soon as you can to ensure your child doesn't miss out. We have been awarded some funding from the Chalk Cliff Trust which allows us to offer a number of FREE weekly places to children who have free school dinners, children who are on the autistic spectrum or children who have with special needs. These places are very limited this year and will be offered on a first come first served basis. Once the free places are gone we will put applicants on a waiting list. Please note - there are no daily free places, they are only available for one or more full week.
