A summary

The Iron Foundation’s “Be an Iron Player for the Day” camps are special one-day experiences designed for children aged 5 to 13. Held during school holidays such as summer or half-terms, these camps typically run from 10 am to 3 pm, with drop-off beginning at 9:30 am. Each session costs around £20 and offers a full day of football and fun in a professional club setting.

The day begins with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Attis Arena, giving children a unique look at areas usually reserved for first-team players. Following the tour, participants take part in skills sessions on the Jason Threadgold training ground, where they practice dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork under the guidance of qualified coaches.

Later in the day, the children get the exciting chance to play on the same pitch used by Scunthorpe United’s first team, allowing them to experience what it feels like to be a professional footballer. Adding to the realism, each child is “interviewed” as if they were a real player, helping build their confidence and communication skills.

To take part, children need to bring shin pads, suitable footwear for grass, waterproof clothing in case of rain, a packed lunch, and drinks. The camp is not just about football skills—it’s about giving kids a day to remember, boosting their confidence, promoting healthy activity, and encouraging a love for the game.
