A summary
Learn about each stage of how you get food on the table. Starting the day you’ll be our mini-growers exploring the farm and helping us with tasks around the garden – weeding, planting, watering. After this you’ll be harvesting and picking our gorgeous homegrown produce ready to cook in our new outdoor kitchen. Learn some cooking skills as you help prepare a delicious lunch which we’ll eat together in our picnic area. After lunch get ready for some nature based arts, crafts and games.

About your mentor
Growing Local CIC
GROW, COOK, EAT healthy & local Hereford food
Growing Local is a community interest company that encourages and educates communities to grow, cook and eat local food. In the summer of 2023 Growing Local took over a new 19-acre agricultural site, The Southside Farm, on the southern edge of Hereford to establish a veg box scheme, a children’s educational garden and heritage orchards. We work with schools and communities delivering educational programmes and events in sustainable food growing, nature, crafting, cooking and more.
How to Find Us
If WALKING/CYCLING we are at the end of the Great Western Way foot/cycle path - after the Belmont Wanderer's football fields - look out for our polytunnels! IF DRIVING we will meet you in the Belmont Wanderers football club car park at 9.50am and walk over together. The car park is at the end of Vernon Williams Close in Newton Farm, HR2 7BF.
