What we'll do
This family water safety workshop is designed to help parents and children build confidence and stay safe whilst enjoying the coast and open water environments. During the session, we will cover how to understand tide times, recognise changes in the beach profile, and identify different types of waves and water conditions. Families will learn the meaning of beach safety signs, the role of lifeguarded beaches, and how to understand lifeguard flags. We will also discuss the dangers of inflatables at the seaside, safe swimming advice, and what to do in an emergency situation. Alongside water safety, the workshop will explore local marine wildlife, the effects of sea pollution, and why restoring and protecting the seabed is important for both people and nature. Please note, this workshop is repeated on each date. Each eligible attendee is limited to one session across the Summer.

Brighton Swimming School
Improving Lives Through Swimming
At Brighton Swimming School, we believe swimming has the power to transform lives — building confidence, improving fitness, and opening the door to a lifelong love of the water. Since 1988, we've been proud to help swimmers of all ages and abilities grow their skills at our dedicated facility in the heart of Kemptown, Brighton. What began as a small one-week intensive course has evolved into a thriving swim school offering a wide range of programmes — from children's and adult lessons to aquatic fitness, cold water confidence, and water safety education. Our goal is simple: to help every swimmer become safer, stronger, and more confident in the water. Brighton Swimming School is built on a commitment to excellence. Our handpicked team of DBS-certified instructors are chosen not only for their teaching skills, but for their ability to build positive, supportive relationships with every swimmer and their family. Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Every session is closely supervised by trained lifeguards and a dedicated Pool Supervisor, ensuring a safe and structured environment for learning and progress. Whether you’re taking your first strokes, training for the sea, or returning to swimming after a break, we’re here to support your journey.

HAF Conditions
A few terms & conditions from Brighton & Hove City Council: • Eligibility criteria – Brighton & Hove HAF funded places are for children and young people in reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. • Limits on bookings – Over Summer, Eequ will permit each eligible participant to be booked on to 16 HAF places across all providers in the city. If a session is not attended, HAF places cannot be added back on to an individual’s allocation, regardless of reason. It is therefore important that sessions are cancelled before the activity starts, and ideally giving a minimum of a few days’ notice where possible to allow other children to benefit. Bookings can be managed by the Booker by logging into Eequ and reviewing their Schedule.
