What we'll do
Nab Cottage HAF – Enriching Minds, Nurturing Nature Nestled in the heart of the Lake District, Nab Cottage’s HAF programme offers a truly enriching and inclusive experience for children and families. Each day begins with a collaborative mural, encouraging self-expression and emotional connection. Children play together in mixed-ability groups, explore their creativity with eco-friendly crafts, and learn about the environment through nature trails, seed planting, and seasonal changes. Healthy meals are prepared with the children, promoting ‘5-a-day’ in a fun, hands-on way. Parents are warmly invited to join the final day’s meal, fostering community and support — especially for families who may feel isolated during holidays. Environmental awareness is woven throughout, from avoiding single-use plastics to understanding how everyday materials impact our planet. Tap water is available all day, and recyclable materials are used wherever possible. Nab Cottage HAF is more than a holiday programme — it’s a safe, creative, and supportive space where children thrive, families connect, and nature is celebrated.

Each session begins with a collaborative mural, encouraging self-expression and emotional awareness. Children engage in group games, explore their creativity using recyclable craft materials, and learn about nature through seed planting and seasonal trails. Cooking and baking sessions promote healthy eating, with children preparing meals like soup and savoury scones, and parents invited to share the final day’s meal. Health promotion is woven into mealtimes, with a focus on ‘5-a-day’ and hydration. Environmental awareness is central — from avoiding single-use plastics to learning how everyday materials affect our planet. Therapeutic relationships are built with families, offering a vital support network for isolated South Lakes households during holidays. Nab Cottage’s HAF is more than a holiday club — it’s a nurturing, eco-conscious community.
