A summary
This dynamic devising theatre project invites young people to explore identity, self-expression, and belonging through performance. Working collaboratively, participants will create original material inspired by their own experiences, ideas, and voices — shaping a bold and authentic piece of theatre from the ground up. Through creative workshops, the group will experiment with movement, storytelling, spoken word, and character work, building confidence and developing their artistic skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. The process encourages open discussion, curiosity, and celebration of individuality, creating space for young people to explore who they are and how they want to be seen. The project will culminate in a live performance at Queer AF, offering participants the opportunity to share their work with an audience and be part of a vibrant platform that champions diverse voices and stories. This is more than a theatre project — it’s a space to be heard, to connect, and to create something meaningful together.
About your mentors
Black Sheep Collective CIC
Proudly outside the flock.
Black Sheep Collective delivers inclusive, creative sessions for children and families who may feel a little outside the norm. We create safe, welcoming spaces where everyone is encouraged to be themselves, explore their creativity, and connect with others. Our workshops use art, movement, and play to support confidence, self-expression, and wellbeing. We believe that every child and family deserves to feel seen, valued, and included—especially those who might not always feel like they fit in. Whether it’s through crafts, storytelling, or creative activities, Black Sheep Collective is all about celebrating difference and helping communities grow stronger, together. Black Sheep Collective nurtures creative expression and supports participants in developing their skills and confidence in authentic collaborative opportunities. The groups will work towards termly sharing's and annual performances. The sessions are affordable, inclusive and remove the pressure of stage school provision.

Hiya! My name is Charli and I have been working for Black Sheep Collective as a mentor for almost 4 years now. I started as a participant myself in 2016 and since, have gathered a plethora of different experiences in performing arts, as well as teaching and support skills, particularly for children with additional needs. I look forward to sharing our safe, passionate space with yourself or your children!
