What we'll do

The Oast Studio is a wonderfully cosy place to spend a winters evening with friends, being creative and chatting the night away. Alison, form The Oast Bakery, will keep us fed and watered with her delicious home baked treats. We will learn how to do a basic chain stitch and once this is established, we will build on it by learning how to do double and triple crochet. Amongst other things, these stitches can be used to make a traditional granny square. Make one and call it a pot holder - or frame it! Make lots of granny squares and you can sew them together to make a blanket. Be careful - you'll get hooked! For those who want to take the next step, we will be offering more crochet evenings soon, where we will learn to crochet in the round. All materials are provided.

I have always believed in the value of learning with our hands. More and more, we live in a world where anything and everything can be obtained at the touch of a button or the swipe of a screen, but this lacks the essential human connection and results in our increasing disconnection from the material world. I work with both private and commercial clients making cushions, bags, homeware and all manner of other sewing projects as bespoke commissions. I have worked with Molly Mahon for the last 7 years, alongside teaching group and one to one workshops. I have over 15 years' experience teaching both children and adults how to work with fabric and textiles.
