Coventry Outdoors

A summary
Introduces children to the journey of food from seed to plate. Through a combination of hands-on gardening, environmental education, food exploration, and practical cooking activities, participants will develop a greater understanding of where food comes from and how healthy choices can be fun, affordable, and accessible.
Throughout the programme, participants will learn how to plant and care for vegetables, herbs, and flowers, learn about soil, pollinators, and food production, and explore the environmental factors that help plants grow. Interactive activities will encourage curiosity about nutrition, sustainability, and the natural world.
Children will also take part in simple cooking sessions, preparing healthy meals and snacks while learning basic kitchen skills, food hygiene, budgeting, and recipe planning. Activities are adapted to suit different age groups and abilities, ensuring all participants can develop confidence, independence, and practical life skills.
By the end of the programme, participants will have gained knowledge of healthy eating, food production, gardening, environmental stewardship, and simple meal preparation, while enjoying creative, hands-on experiences that encourage lifelong healthy habits.
