A summary
Creative activities and delicious food! Collective Encounters will be running a FREE Summer Arts Adventure for care-experienced young people during the Summer holidays. We are delighted to invite young people to join Collective Encounters for our Summer Arts Adventure! This fun-filled programme will give participants the opportunity to try a wide range of creative activities, enjoy days out across Liverpool, make new friends, and develop their confidence and creativity during the summer holidays. This year, as part of the programme, young people will have the exciting opportunity to work with professional musicians, develop their own musical ideas, rehearse together, and record original tracks in a professional recording studio. Additionally, young people will explore: Drama Dance Music Drawing Creative Writing Visual Arts Lunch and snacks will be provided each day. The programme will run Monday to Thursday from 27th July to 20th August. The first two weeks will include a mixture of creative workshops, guest artists and exciting days out across Liverpool. We will meet at the same location each day — the Suitcase Statues on Hope Street — and travel together to the day's venue or activity. Please note that some venues are still being finalised and will be confirmed closer to the start of the programme. Young people can come to all of the days, one of the days and everything in between. Week 1 (27th–30th July) Day 1 – Welcome Day - Games and Drama workshop -Venue TBC Day 2 – Museum Day - Walker Art Gallery, World Museum, Liverpool Central Library Day 3 – Dance Workshop Day 4 – Cathedral Visit and Outdoor games in the gardens Week 2 (3rd–6th August) Music Project (Days 1 & 4) Day 1 – Music Studio Rehearsal Day Day 4 – Studio Recording Day Please note: Participants wishing to take part in the recording session on Day 4 should attend the rehearsal day on Day 1. Additional Activities Day 2 – Beach / Park Day - Outdoor activities and games Day 3 – Arts & Culture Day - FACT and Bluecoat exhibitions Weeks 3 & 4 (10th–20th August) The final two weeks will take place at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts). Participants will continue exploring a mixture of dance, drama, visual and creative arts. These sessions will build towards a celebratory sharing performance for family, carers and invited guests. Sharing Performance Date: 19th August Time: 2:00pm We would love for family members and carers to join us to celebrate everything the young people have created during the programme. The last day will take place on Thursday 20th - we are working on organising something fun for the last day and will have more info on this soon. A healthy hot lunch will be provided each day. Young people will be involved in food preparation and engaged in discussions about nutrition and the food they like, with the daily menu being developed with their input. This programme is specifically for care experienced young people and/or young people who have a social worker, aged 10-16. Collective Encounters is a catalyst, creating an open environment that builds power within participants, partners and communities through compelling storytelling and imagining new worlds. We have a participatory theatre programme that stretches across the Liverpool City Region and extend an open invitation to everyone to come and get involved. Our learning events and resources are deigned for artists, academics and activists at any stage of their career. Our creative participatory research approach is used by local authorities, NGO’s, academic and other public agencies and enable everyone to come together in critical inquiry to strengthen and develop their own communities. Collective Encounters is a place of inclusivity, openness and connection and we welcome you to our community.
