Join Meridian Music & Sound for a calm, creative workshop where you can explore how music, reading, and imagination come together. This relaxed session invites you to take part in whatever way feels right: try our instruments, read while we play to you, learn about our music, or join in and help create your own sound world. Highly recommended for children aged 11 and above.
Throughout the session, we’ll share gentle live music on harp, flutes, world instruments, and sound bath instruments, creating an atmosphere that supports focus, concentration, and deeper engagement with reading. Soft, steady sound can help quiet the mind, making it easier to settle into a book and stay absorbed in a story.
You can choose to:
• Listen and read — choose a book from our library collection downstairs and enjoy your book while surrounded by calming music designed to support concentration.
• Explore our instruments — try chimes, percussion, and sound making objects.
• Create a sound bath — learn how sound baths work and help build one together.
• Tell stories through music — discover how sound can paint scenes, express emotions, and bring characters to life.
• Join in musically — experiment with simple patterns, textures, and guided improvisation.
This workshop encourages curiosity, confidence, and mindful creativity. Whether you want to curl up with a book, explore new sounds, or help shape a full musical story, there’s space for everyone to take part in their own way.
For safety and due to limited space, we politely request that children are accompanied by only one adult to prevent crowding in the activity space. Please do not bring siblings to the event unless they have a pre-booked place and meet the age requirements.
