A summary
Let’s gather around the campfire to cook and share a meal together. On 24th April we will cook a hearty stew made of root vegetables and herbs, with freshly baked bread rolls. You will learn about 4 areas of campfire cooking like embers over flames, foil packets, grilling using a tripod, cast iron skillet and dutch ovens for slow cooking, direct in ash, ensuring even heat and preventing charring. We can develop recipes that inspire you. It’s a wonderful, relaxing and insightful experience to learn how to cook on the campfire. It’s deeply grounding when you wait for your food and listen to crackling sounds of the fire. What a great start to the weekend! While it's cooking you will learn and practice some bushcraft skills. Join us for this experience of dining under the tree canopies. All ingredients and utensils provided. Teas, and herbal teas and coffees provided. Please list any allergies and dietary requirements in the booking form (Vegan, vegetarian, halal etc) Please note: a £1.05 booking fee is added at checkout, and parking charges apply at Delamere Forest (free for up to 20 minutes for drop-off and pick-up).

Our programmes run across two sites: our long-established Cheshire woodland centre in Sandiway, and a new location at Delamere Forest in partnership with Forestry England. We offer a mix of activities suitable for all ages and abilities. Hi, I'm Rachel. I have been an instructor for over 6 years facilitating forest activities such as bushcraft, orienteering, and team games, and adventure sports such as sailing, climbing, paddling, and archery. My perfect Sunday would be a sunrise hike and lake swim, checking on my beehives, and relaxing on hammocks by a campfire as the sun sets. In my spare time I like to crochet, sew, paint and build to create anything I need or make gifts for people.
