A summary
Half Day Pony Club Adventure! Come and experience what it's like to own a pony for a morning or afternoon! You'll get hands-on learning how to groom, care for, and feed your pony. Plus, you'll have your very own riding session—tacking up and taking part in a fun lesson. (Riding is optional) The adventure doesn’t stop there! You’ll also make your own healthy snacks mid way through your experience and finish the day by creating your own lunch or tea in our cosy Oak Lodge café, where snacks and a light meal are included. Join us for an exciting, pony-filled day in the countryside!

Learn to ride and care for horses in nature
Budleigh Salterton Riding School is a family run business which provides lessons, hacks, treks, equestrian holidays, riding courses and pony days. We are situated on the edge of Woodbury Common in a peaceful country setting, within easy reach of Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth and Exeter. This provides the ideal location for country rides over heathland with spectacular views of the Jurassic coastline. The British Horse Society Approved riding school also has two large all-weather menages for flatwork and jumping. BHS qualified staff run term time education courses including alternative education programmes and changing lives through horses There is a stunning Oak Lodge Cafe and conference centre on site - Cafe is open Thursdays to Saturdays.
Important information
It is important to wear the correct attire when round the yard and riding the ponies as follows: All jewellery and piercings need to be removed please. Children must be in long trousers and tops which cover the shoulders. Boots must have a flat sole and small heal. Warm and waterproof clothing are essential for cold, rainy days as riding takes place outdoors. Please ensure plenty of suncream and cover for sunny days. The riding school will provide riding hats. Incorrect riding attire may result in not being able to ride as this is an important safety aspect Please note we have a weight limit of 75 kg for the riding part of this activity. thank you

Aim 1
You will learn the basics of horse care and the basics of riding.
Aim 2
Learn to make healthy snacks and lunch / tea
Aim 3
Enjoy social interaction whilst learning about animal care and the countryside and also enjoying a healthy meal together
Parent involvement
We welcome parent involvement in helping to lead the ponies for the riding part. No experience necessary but parents do need to be in old clothing and sturdy boots. Thank you
