What we'll do
A children making bread activity is a hands-on learning experience where children work together (or individually in groups) to prepare and bake bread. It combines practical cooking skills with learning about food, teamwork, and basic science. What the activity involves: Introduction: Children learn what bread is and where ingredients come from. Mixing ingredients: They combine flour, yeast, water, salt, and sometimes sugar or oil. Kneading dough: Children use their hands to press and stretch the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. Resting/rising: The dough is left to rise so children can observe how yeast makes it expand. Shaping: They shape the dough into rolls, loaves, or fun shapes. Baking (adult supervised): The bread is baked in an oven until golden brown. Tasting: Children enjoy the finished bread, often sharing it with the group. Skills children learn: Basic cooking and food preparation skills Understanding simple science (how yeast makes dough rise) Fine motor skills through mixing and kneading Patience and following instructions Teamwork and sharing
