What we'll do
Through this three-day course, each day will have a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Indoor activities include a tower-building challenge, learning emergency first aid and creating a anxiety or worry plan. Outdoor activities include building a water dam with our firefighters, navigating an obstacle course to rescue a manikin and rolling out and using the fire hoses. we will explore some big questions through fun activities, including the drills our firefighters use to build teamworking skills: what is resilience? How to I become more resilient? What are my aspirations? How can I achieve them? How can I communicate the way I'm feeling? What can I do when I'm feeling intense emotions? How can I look after myself? What do healthy relationships look like? What can I do if I think I'm being bullied or pressured by my peers? What are my rights and responsibilities in the communities I belong to? This is a three day course - and ideally we'd like you to attend all three sessions, although we appreciate that this may not be possible. Each day will focus on a different topic: Day 1 - Resilience and Aspirations Day 2 - Emotional and Physical wellbeing Day 3 - Relationships and Community A few T&Cs from Brighton & Hove City Council: • Eligibility criteria – Brighton & Hove HAF funded places are for children and young people in reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. • Limits on bookings – Over Summer, Eequ will permit each eligible participant to be booked on to 16 HAF places across all providers in the city. If a session is not attended, HAF places cannot be added back on to an individual’s allocation, regardless of reason. It is therefore important that sessions are cancelled before the activity starts, and ideally giving a minimum of a few days’ notice where possible to allow other children to benefit. Bookings can be managed by the Booker by logging into Eequ and reviewing their Schedule.
