A summary
Spend the week in a real theatre making a show together. Young people will take part in drama games, acting, movement, storytelling, improvisation and rehearsal, building confidence and teamwork as they go. They will create scenes, explore characters, learn how performances are shaped and work towards a small final sharing for family and friends. Lunch, snacks and drinks are included each day, and sessions are designed to feel welcoming, creative and supportive for young people with different interests and experience levels. What a typical day looks like Each day includes a welcome, drama games and warm-ups, creative activities, lunch, rehearsal time and a calm end to the session. As the week goes on, young people will build towards a small final sharing for family and friends. Food and drinks Lunch, snacks and drinks are included each day. We will offer healthy, child-friendly food and will take account of allergies, dietary requirements and cultural needs. What to wear Please wear comfortable clothes you can move around in and suitable shoes for taking part in theatre activities. Final sharing The week ends with a small informal performance for family and friends, so young people can share what they have created together in the theatre.

The Blakehay is a friendly community theatre in Weston-super-Mare where children, young people and families can watch, take part and try something new. We use a real theatre setting to help people build confidence, learn creative and practical skills, and feel part of something positive, supportive and fun.
Learning aims
Aim 1
Young people will build confidence in performing by taking part in drama games, rehearsals and group storytelling in a real theatre setting.
Aim 2
Young people will develop teamwork and communication skills by creating scenes together, listening to others and working towards a shared final performance.
Aim 3
Young people will understand basic performance skills such as character, movement, voice and stage presence, and use these in a small final sharing.
