What we'll do
Join me for a relaxed and creative Sunday afternoon at Gail’s Bakery on George Street in Hove, where you’ll be gently guided through the beautiful art of dip pen calligraphy. This beginner-friendly workshop is ideal if you’re completely new to calligraphy or want a peaceful refresher. We’ll begin by getting familiar with the tools - assembling your pen, learning how to dip correctly, and understanding the basics of modern calligraphy. You’ll then move through simple warm-up exercises designed to build confidence with shapes and strokes. Next, we’ll explore the alphabet, tracing and practicing letters, words, and short phrases using my carefully designed worksheets. To finish, you’ll bring everything together by creating your own hand-lettered greeting cards and gift tags to take home. Throughout the workshop, I’ll be there to support you, troubleshoot any challenges, and offer creative ideas to help you personalise your work. We’ll explore vibrant inks together and add simple, charming drawings to beautifully decorate your cards, gift tags, and envelopes. What’s included: All materials and tools for use during the session Take-home worksheets, gift tags, and greeting cards A hot drink and a selection of cakes from Gail’s Bakery Option to purchase your own calligraphy kit after the class This is a gentle, inspiring two-hour workshop to unwind, try something new, and explore your creativity. Tickets are non-refundable. Limited spaces available.
