31 July- Poppy Stevens
This is a writing workshop with a difference. No previous writing experience necessary. This workshop will equip you with the skills to harness your creativity and get started. This workshop is designed to take the fear out of writing and instead celebrate imagination, creativity and storytelling. So, what can you expect from this workshop? Some games, some writing, some crafting/making and a whole lot more. You will come away with a poem or two and a whole lot of creative prompts to continue your writing at home.
Poppy Stevens is a community arts facilitator and poet. Her writing has been commissioned and published by The National Centre for Writing, The Young Norfolk Arts Trust, TOAST Poetry, BBC Radio Norfolk & Suffolk & Atrium poetry. Poppy works within the community delivering creative workshops to a diverse range of people. Her work with children spans from EYFS to Key Stage 4 both in schools, alternative provisions, and community settings. Poppy runs a regular dyslexia inclusive writing club. As someone with dyslexia Poppy understands the importance of creating non-judgemental spaces for neurodivergent young people to express their ideas.
14 August- Sian Burford-Thomas
Join us for a summer of dreams!
Come along to make sense of our abstract dreams through theatre, stories and craft.
We’ll gather our dreams into a big melting pot with which to create some brilliantly abstract stories. We’ll bring these to life through building craft based worlds and narratives which can be performed live or recorded. We’ll be using theatre making techniques to get us thinking, but there’ll be no pressure to perform in front of others if you don’t want to. Come and enjoy a collaborative, creative day where your ideas matter!
I'm a theatre director/ maker/ practitioner...which means I get to tell stories all day! I work creatively with young people, schools and communities to develop skills, confidence and make shows. I work with venues such as Mercury Theatre, New Wolsey Theatre and others on a variety of theatre making projects - and I'm most excited by bringing original ideas by workshop participants to life.
28 August- Eleanor Rodwell
Join artist Ellie Rodwell in a day of drawing and casting. Participants will experiment with fun drawing activities and make their own plaster relief cast to take home, using found natural objects and clay.
Eleanor is a Suffolk-based multi-disciplinary artist, whose practice is rooted in mark-making, the landscape and translating emotional experience. Her mediums span drawing, painting, sculpture and metal casting. She has exhibited both internationally and within the UK, with three solo shows since 2021. With broad experiences in curation, leading creative workshops and working as a bronze foundry assistant, she is now a studio member of the Suffolk artist co-operative Asylum Studios.
