Be the Tree!

Tara Crank

A summary
Tara presents an integrated pedagogy and practice workshop that draws from her light-hearted approach to learning about trees by doing impressions of them. She uses creative and fun hands-on activities smoothly paired with academic theory and discussion on human-nature relationships to inspire you as workshop participants to critically reflect on your values when it comes to supporting learners to see nature as part of themselves in a world dealing with environmental crisis.
Tara has a particular interest in experiential learning outdoors. She entwines this with her fascination for natural processes in her work teaching bushcraft skills and as a wildlife and conservation educator. She has a master’s degree in Outdoor Education, specialising in technology’s potential to promote reconnection to unique natural places. In Tara’s mind, this is essential to repair and recreate our relationship with the natural environment. Her more recent ventures involve blending Welsh forages with flavours from her Gujarati culture; and she is about to embark on her PhD journey, studying the how a Community Green Health Hub can be used to promote health and ecoliteracy.
