A summary
A football programme for young people in school years 8 to 12, providing an opportunity for teenagers to take part in instructor-led 7-a-side football. Participants can enter as individuals, with friends, or as part of their own ready-made team. Those registering individually will be placed into a team and take part in a structured tournament designed to showcase football skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. The programme provides a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where young people can stay active, build confidence and develop positive social connections. The first 35 participants attending each session will receive a meal to take away, with fruit and drinks also provided throughout the programme.

Richard has worked in Southwark and the surrounding communities for over 25 years. He believes sport is a powerful way to build confidence, connection and belonging. At Ballers Academy, Richard leads our free community programmes that support children, young people, adults and older residents to stay active and feel valued. He is especially committed to including those who are often overlooked. His work has been recognised locally and nationally, including awards from the BBC London Radio and London Sport. But for Richard, the real reward is seeing people grow, smile and feel part of something positive. Richard’s approach is simple: everyone should have the same chance to be active, stay healthy and feel included.
