Our pedagogy
Our 4-day HAF holiday programme provides children and young people with a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment where they can learn, create, and thrive. Through a wide range of creative activities including art, crafts, music, and hands-on projects, children are encouraged to explore their imagination, express themselves freely, and build confidence in their abilities. Our sessions are designed to be engaging, inclusive, and accessible, ensuring every child feels valued and supported. In addition to creative activities, we incorporate educational experiences and day trips that help bring learning to life. Depending on the programme, children may have the opportunity to visit museums, farms, beaches, heritage sites, nature reserves, and other local attractions. These experiences encourage curiosity, broaden horizons, and help children develop a greater understanding of the world around them. Throughout the programme, children will develop valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, resilience, independence, and creative thinking. They will have opportunities to work collaboratively, try new experiences, and challenge themselves in a supportive environment. We believe that creativity should have a lasting impact, which is why children will often take home a keepsake from the activities they have completed. Whether it's a piece of artwork, a handmade craft, a memory book, or a project they have created themselves, these items serve as a reminder of their achievements and the positive experiences they enjoyed during the programme. Most importantly, children leave with more than just memories. They leave having made new friends, gained new skills, discovered new interests, and grown in confidence—feeling proud of what they have accomplished and excited about what they can achieve in the future

United Apostolic Church & Faith Healing Ministries
Serving Newark with faith, hope, and community
United Apostolic Church and Faith Healing Ministries with Flames of Fire has been serving since 1984, and we’re excited to now be part of the Newark community in the former Methodist Church on Beech Avenue. Our heart is to continue the legacy of care and friendship the Methodist Church began, while opening our doors wide to families, children, and young people. We believe in creating a safe, welcoming place filled with faith, love, and community spirit — where everyone feels valued and supported.
Holiday Adventure!
What We’ll Be Doing This Summer Our Summer HAF programme is all about giving children a holiday filled with creativity, adventure, friendship, and fun. We create a safe and welcoming environment where children can explore new interests, build confidence, learn new skills, and make lasting memories. From arts and crafts to games, challenges, wellbeing activities, and outdoor play, every day is carefully planned to keep children engaged, active, and excited to come back. A Typical Day: 9:00am – Breakfast & Welcome Children arrive and enjoy a healthy breakfast while settling in and catching up with friends. 9:30am – Icebreaker & Morning Welcome Fun group activities help everyone feel included, build friendships, and start the day with a smile. 10:00am – Creative or Themed Activity Children take part in a hands-on activity which may include art, crafts, music, STEM challenges, wellbeing activities, or themed projects. 11:00am – Snack Break 11:15am – Free Play & Social Time A chance for children to relax, play, explore, and enjoy spending time with their peers. 11:45am – Sports, Games & Movement Fun physical activities designed to encourage teamwork, confidence, healthy habits, and plenty of laughter. 12:15pm – Lunch 12:45pm – Reflection & Celebration We end each day by celebrating achievements, sharing highlights, and reflecting on what we've enjoyed and learned together. 1:00pm – Home Time Weekly Educational Adventures One of the highlights of our programme is our weekly educational trip, usually taking place on the final day of each delivery week (typically Thursday). Children may have the opportunity to visit places such as museums, farms, beaches, parks, nature reserves, heritage sites, and other exciting local attractions. These trips help bring learning to life while giving children the chance to experience new places and create wonderful holiday memories. Full details of each trip will be shared closer to the time, including travel arrangements and collection information. Please note: On trip days, collection times may occasionally be adjusted to accommodate travel requirements and ensure children have the best possible experience. Parents and carers will always be given advance notice of any changes. More Than Just a Holiday Club Our goal is for every child to leave feeling happy, confident, and proud of themselves. Along the way they will make new friends, develop valuable life skills, discover new interests, and often take home special creations and keepsakes that remind them of their summer adventures. We can't wait to welcome your child for a summer full of creativity, learning, friendship, and fun!
Learning aims
Aim 1
Self-Expression and Emotional Literacy: Children will explore feelings and ideas through art, music, and craft, helping them understand and communicate their emotions confidently.
Aim 2
Social Connection and Collaboration: Activities are designed to encourage cooperation, empathy, and a sense of belonging, helping children build positive relationships with peers and mentors.
Aim 3
Confidence and Resilience Building: Through hands-on creative activities and teamwork, participants will develop self-esteem, problem-solving skills, and the ability to embrace challenges
Why this is useful
Providing children with creative enrichment during school holidays is more than just fun—it supports their emotional, social, and cognitive development. Activities like art, crafts, and play-based projects help children express themselves, build confidence, and develop emotional literacy in a safe and supportive environment. By fostering teamwork, gratitude, and a sense of belonging, these sessions also strengthen social skills and resilience, helping children navigate challenges both in school and in everyday life. Ultimately, this kind of engagement empowers young people to grow, connect, and thrive in their community.
