An Introduction to Choice Theory

A summary
This workshop will introduce some of the basic concepts of Glasser’s Choice Theory (Quality World and Total Behaviour amongst them). We will consider how and why they are relevant and helpful to us as Forest School leaders. We will also touch open Reality Therapy - the therapy that grew out of Choice Theory - by looking at some of the simple questioning techniques it employs. The workshop will be a mixture of interactive exercises, input from me and discussion in small groups and large.

I qualified as a Forest School leader in 2014 and have delivered sessions to a wide range of participants, predominantly primary aged children from a special school. I am passionate about the benefits of Forest School, and deliver 'full fat' Forest School. I am never happier than when outdoors and learning; much of the CPD I have attended has been around needs-based approaches and behaviour. I have been studying Choice Theory since 2019 and attained Certification in April 2022.
