A summary
So much of everyday is rushed and with endless demands. The idea for this workshop and upcoming workshops is not just to make something, but to slow down and breath, to allow us to experience our surroundings, ourselves and those we are with, and there by building connections. I'd like to work towards offering 3 stand alone workshops of spinning and dyeing and making a back-strap loom, that give learners the opportunity to make their own belt/length of cloth. By learning how to make basic tools we can transform ans empower ourselves, and set us on a path to further creativity. We are lucky enough that this workshop is held in such a beautiful setting of the south downs.

About your mentor
Flo Perrett
Kind, whacky waldorf inspired handwork tutor
Lifetime crafter, been a handwork teacher for 3 years, I'm a weaver and interested in natural fibres, sustainable materials. I'm a great believer in the power of crafting in supporting children's (and adults), will, dexterity, visual, mathematical development, as well as supporting mental health. The list goes on. There is also a lot of fun in the space created by handwork, to tell stories, jokes, feel safe and relaxed.
What we'll do
We will gather and start with an intentional circle and introduce ourselves. We will have a brief history of the tools we are making, with what spinning and weaving mean to us, what crafts gives us peace and joy. We will go through the materials and select the materials we will need. We will work in a circle, while following the tutor. We will take as many breaks as needed and stop for lunch aroubd 12.30, where a light vegetarian lunch will be provided. Please bring substitutes if you have any dietary requirements. For the afternoon, we will continue and warp our looms and possibly have time to start some weaving. If it is a nice day we will spend at least some of the time outside in the beautiful surroundings.
