What we'll do
Holiday Club is a four-week activity programme running from Monday 29th July - Friday 23rd August 2024. This will be a free opportunity for young people from ages 7-14 who also require free school meals. Week 1: Moving, Making & Mindfulness - Week one will focus on a wide array of activities which promote healthy mental & physical wellbeing. This week will run from Monday - Thursday from 10:00-15:00. Groups will be split into age ranges of 7-10 & 11-14 year olds. Each group will switch activities after the lunchbreak. Week 2: Let's Create! – The second week will focus on theatre and creativity. The young people will work with professional theatre-makers to co-create their own “play in a week”, which will be performed in our Sir John Mills Theatre for their friends and family on the Friday. Young poeple will have the opportunity to devise, write, perform, stage manage, direct and take full ownership of the play they create. This week will run from Monday - Friday from 10:00-15:00. Groups will be split into age ranges of 7-10 & 11-14 year olds and each group will work with a professional theatre-maker through the week who will guide the creative process and teach them skills. Each week will also have a space called 'The Nook' - a quiet space for any young people feeling overwhelmed to take a break. We also have a provision of books in this space for children who would like quiet reading time. We will be providing new places in an existing club but will not turn away previous attendees. We will, however, prioritise young people in the Westgate Ward of Ipswich.

Our productions are ambitious, dynamic and a good night out. We aspire to be Radically Hospitable. We aim to put extraordinary effort and emphasis on making people feel welcome. We seek to remove barriers that prevent people from participating in the shared experience of arts, heritage and culture. We are proud and committed to rural community touring and to enhancing the engagement and infrastructure of culture in the East of England. We have a passion for supporting children, young people and our intergenerational audience to achieve their creative potential and ensure access to high-quality cultural experiences are available in the places we live or where we go to school. “We create innovative theatre and cultural community events with you, for you and on tour to you!” Our dynamic organisation when not on the road is based in Ipswich at our Community Hub the Eastern Angles Centre and at Chauffer’s Cottage in Peterborough providing resources to equipping and engaging artists, communities and venues. “The National Theatre of East Anglia” (BBC Radio Suffolk)
