Walking Football - Stronger for Life Are you aged 50+? Do you wish you could still play, but find the game too fast these days? Walking football is a great way to keep fit and rediscover your competitive side and love of football. Due to the slower pace and reduced contact, walking football reduces the risk of injury and is a fun way to stay active. Remember, no sprinting, running or jogging, only walking. Please arrive 15 minutes early to the first session you attend, as all new participants will need to complete a 5 minute screening before the start of the session. This session is part of the 'Stronger for Life' campaign, that aims to improve strength and balance for people who are at risk of falling. What should you wear? Any clothes that you are comfortable exercising in and trainers What do you need to bring? A bottle of water. To help keep this class going, the suggested ticket price is £3, however, if the cost is a barrier, we have different ticket options available. New sliding ticket prices for 2025 We believe everyone should have access to exercise and it shouldn’t be a luxury or privilege. Therefore, to ensure our sessions are accessible to everyone, we are excited to introduce a new sliding ticket system on all our Active Hastings sessions, so you can choose what you can afford to pay. The sliding ticket system will give you the opportunity to choose from three ticket options: £3: Suggested ticket price To support the running costs of the class and to keep the session going £2: A little helping hand Don't let cost be a barrier, have a lower price ticket if you need to Free ticket: Need it on us For people on low income and benefits. Our free ticket option will work on a trust basis, and we hope people who can, will pay for the suggested or little helping hand ticket; leaving the free ticket option for people who need them. We will be trialling the new sliding ticket system until the end of February, and if sessions remain sustainable after this date (which we very much hope they do), we will continue this new price system. Active Hastings
Physical activity sessions for everyone!
Active Hastings is an externally funded partnership project between Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council Public Health. We have been working in partnership since 2006 to give local residents easy, fun ways to get their everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each week for adults and 60 minutes every day for children to benefit your health, both mental and physical. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots! All of our team are experienced sports coaches, fitness instructors and play workers, who are passionate about working with people of all ages in Hastings and St Leonards. We run free or low cost sessions throughout the year, as well as holiday activities as part of the Holiday Activity and Food programme.
