What we'll do
Get ready to ride or meet/lead a pony (depending on your preferences and needs), and learn all about how to look after them, have fun and make new friends, all within a safe environment! Activities may vary but we aim to groom, ride and/or lead a pony. There will be other fun games and learning to join in with, plus snacks, refreshments and a well earned rosette! Parents, carers and guardians are asked to stay for the Briefing and for the whole session if they think that their participant may need support at any point during it. Gartmore Riding School BHS ABRS RDA
It's what you can do that counts!
Gartmore Riding School Riding is in beautiful rural Staffordshire, United Kingdom. We are an approved British Horse Society Riding School, belong to the Association of British Riding Schools and are also a Riding for the Disabled Group. GRS offers qualifications with all of these bodies. Our two-hour group sessions include meeting, leading or riding and some aspect of horse and pony care, like grooming, plaiting manes and tails and how to feed your pony. We also offer outdoor education and our Learning Pathway lets you learn how to care for horses and ponies and also our wider environment. We have many years' experience working with children, young people and adults with varying abilities and mobility needs. We offer opportunities to people of all backgrounds and levels of ability and experience.
Extra information
Each two hour Group session consists of hands on pony-care activities and horse riding/leading. We will provide each young person with the correct PPE for the day, (Riding Hats and boots that we supply free of charge). We ask that clothing is weather appropriate for ALL members of the family with us (we aim to carry on if it is cold and/or raining as we have access to covered facilities!) Please ensure that jeans, joggers, leggings or similar long items are worn on the legs - no shorts please (to prevent rubbing) and that tops cover the whole of the body. Please wear gloves if you have them (but don't buy them especially for this activity!) Could you please arrive BY TEN MINUTES TO ELEVEN so that we can complete registration forms and put on hats and boots, thank you. (We provide hats and boots Free of Charge). Refreshments provided on site; lunch provided to take home.
