If you are struggling with your course in history or English, or you worry about your general knowledge, I can help. I can build up your confidence in reading and comprehension of written English, bring poetry, fiction and drama to life, I can make your modern history live drawing on my own experiences, and I can help you gain the confidence to think for yourself and to express your ideas.

History tutoring: I have direct experience of events that are now taught in the history syllabus, as well as my own background as a history graduate. English support: I have wide knowledge of English literature and a firm grasp of grammar and vocabulary. Interview preparation: I can help raise confidence and technique for interviews. Confidence building: I can strengthen your confidence and your ability to think for yourself, and to debate, drawing on my experience as a senior manager and negotiator. General knowledge: I have wide general knowledge and can help you to increase your own.
Learning aims
Aim 1
To be able to read English fluently and with full comprehension. To develop an enjoyment of the great writers who have written in English.

To develop a solid general knowledge, including history, geography, literature and music, and to understand how and why our society is as it is.
Aim 2
To grasp the main elements of any modern history course, with a proper understanding of the wider context of any event, its causes and results.

To develop confidence in discussing and debating, with an open mind; to encourage a readiness to learn.
