A summary
The BMEYPP is a youth led organisation that works with young people who are Black, Asian, Arab and Multiple Heritage aged 11 to 25. We deliver a weekly drop in session which is a safe space for young people and where they can take part in arts, crafts, games, debates, discussions, meet positive role models and cook delicious dishes from around the world shared by everyone. We also run a volunteer and leadership project, a podcast project – giving young people a voice about issues important to them, Black Histories and culture sessions and opportunities for young people to socialise and party. The BMEYPP Summer Activities Programme will continue to provide safe and supportive spaces for young people of colour to attend weekly drop in session, and take part in workshops, activities and trips that we may not usually get to take part in. I Young people’s voice is crucial element of our organisation, and we encourage young people to be part of planning our activities and trips … and everything that happens is based on their ideas. Previous activities have included Watersports at Hove Lagoon, Ice skating and swimming at Guildford Spectrum, Archery at Adur Outdoor Activities Centre and more, boxing training, BBQ and sports at Preston Park. We invite young people to come along to our weekly drop in session, and share their ideas about activities and trips they would like to take place. Weekly drop in sessions take place at the Hop 50 on Wednesdays 5.30 to 8.00pm. To find out more about the summer programme, please email holidayactivities@bmeypp.org.uk to register your interest and a BMEYPP youth worker will be in touch with you. If the participant is not eligible for HAF, they are still very welcome to come to our sessions. Please contact us for more information. “A few T&Cs from Brighton & Hove City Council: • Eligibility criteria – Brighton & Hove HAF funded places are for children and young people in reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. • Limits on bookings – Over the summer, Eequ will permit each eligible participant to be booked on to 16 HAF places across all providers in the city. If a session is not attended, HAF places cannot be added back on to an individual’s allocation, regardless of reason. It is therefore important that sessions are cancelled before the activity starts, and ideally giving a minimum of a few days’ notice where possible to allow other children to benefit. Bookings can be managed by the Booker by logging into Eequ and reviewing their Schedule.”
