A SUMMARY
Within these lessons we will be working towards a GCSE qualification in Art and Design. The 3 year course includes learning basic skills within fine art practice focusing on the importance of drawing/observation and technicals within the first year. The latter 2 years will support students in producing 2 coursework modules, and an exam module and prepare students in exam readiness whilst providing them a portfolio should they wish to sit the GCSE in 2023 or not. Despite this, the pupils will gain a strong foundation for Art and Design and the work will prepare them for further education if they want to continue at a higher level. As an art therapist along with many years of GCSE and A level exam teaching experience, the lessons pay particular focus on the individual. Working with suitable means of material and project ideas the focus is towards developing an expression bespoke to each person, supporting both growth and challenges on the way. There is also the possibility to support students towards a Bronze/Silver Arts award should GCSE not be ideal. See info for Bronze Award below. Bronze Arts Award: Level 1 Award in the Arts - Qualification number: 501/0081/6 40 guided learning hours + 20 independent learning hours = 60 hours total qualification time (TQT) Bronze Arts Award is a Level 1 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is open to young people aged 11 to 25. To achieve a Bronze Arts Award, young people collect evidence in an individual arts log or portfolio of their experiences of:
About your mentor
Joelle
Fine Artist, Art Tutor and Therapist
I love discovering that each individual is able to succeed. That they can achieve the best of their ability. That they have potential. That they need to know this. That they can shine......... I'm an artist, fine art graduate from Central St. Martins with employment experience in the film and event industry where I applied creative and organisational skills as a producer/director. 'Teaching as an art' - Waldorf trained, I have 13 years experience teaching GCSE and A-Level art alongside the Waldorf curriculum of black and white charcoal drawing, watercolour painting and art history. Currently I am teaching art privately, one2one and when required - in small focus groups. I hold a post-graduate qualification as a Transpersonal Arts Counsellor. My personal work is both abstract and figurative, painterly and sculptural.
