A summary
Breathe Better, Move Better, Live Better Stronger for Life - Improving strength and balance for people who are at risk of falling Easy to follow and fun Qigong Movement Class for everyone. Qigong movement eases the symptoms of pain, enhances sleep quality and reduces fatigue. To help keep this class going, the suggested ticket price is £3, however, if the cost is a barrier, we have different ticket options available. Please arrive 15 minutes early to the first session you attend., as all new participants will need to complete a 5 minute screening before the start of the session. Booking is essential What is Qigong and how does it work? Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being. Qigong has both psychological and physical components and involves the regulation of the mind, breath, and body’s movement and posture. In most forms of Qigong: * Breath is slow, long, and deep. Breath patterns may switch from abdominal breathing to breathing combined with speech sounds. * Movements are typically gentle and smooth, aimed for relaxation. * Mind regulation includes focusing one’s attention and visualization. Dynamic (active) Qigong techniques primarily focus on body movements, especially movements of the whole body or arms and legs. Meditative (passive) qigong techniques can be practiced in any posture that can be maintained over time and involve breath and mind exercises, with almost no body movement. If you have any queries regarding the class, please email the Active Hastings team at activehastings@hastings.gov.uk New sliding ticket prices for 2025 We believe everyone should have access to exercise and it shouldn’t be a luxury or privilege. Therefore, to ensure our sessions are accessible to everyone, we are excited to introduce a new sliding ticket system on all our Active Hastings sessions, so you can choose what you can afford to pay. The sliding ticket system will give you the opportunity to choose from three ticket options: £3: Suggested ticket price To support the running costs of the class and to keep the session going £2: A little helping hand Don't let cost be a barrier, have a lower price ticket if you need to Free ticket: Need it on us For people on low income and benefits. Our free ticket option will work on a trust basis, and we hope people who can, will pay for the suggested or little helping hand ticket; leaving the free ticket option for people who need them. We will be trialling the new sliding ticket system until the end of February, and if sessions remain sustainable after this date (which we very much hope they do), we will continue this new price system. About your mentor
Active Hastings
Physical activity sessions for everyone!
Active Hastings is an externally funded partnership project between Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council Public Health. We have been working in partnership since 2006 to give local residents easy, fun ways to get their everyday dose of physical activity. It only takes 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each week for adults and 60 minutes every day for children to benefit your health, both mental and physical. You can even break it down into 10 minute slots! All of our team are experienced sports coaches, fitness instructors and play workers, who are passionate about working with people of all ages in Hastings and St Leonards. We run free or low cost sessions throughout the year, as well as holiday activities as part of the Holiday Activity and Food programme.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
