A summary
A great chance to try out Forest School, make new friends whilst have fun in the fresh air. A screen free zone! Our nature-based activity days are enriching, playful and great fun. Find us in the heart of the Ashdown Forest, where our broadleaf woodland nestles next to a meadow of soft wild grasses. Here children can enjoy the freedom of the woodland to play, learn and explore, forest school-style, soaking up the magic and benefits that nature has to offer. And we know that nature plays a vital role in keeping us happy, healthy and able to tackle whatever life throws at us. Days run 10am to 2pm. Please provide a packed lunch and snacks. We may provide additional snacks, eg. around the campfire, so you will be asked about any special dietary requirements during the booking process. **If your child has behavioural needs requiring 1:1 support, please get in contact before booking. It may be that they should come along with an adult in this case, as we’re not able to accommodate this level of support within our normal staffing ratios.

Wild & Green Forest School
Forest School Leader
Wild & Green is run by Louise Burton and Paul Mepham of Crowborough. We are a small limited company with a community ambition. We employ professional instructors and operate with a high adult:child ratio for the best quality experiences. Louise is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader. She is also a highly experienced events professional, producing experiences ranging from small workshops to large-scale outdoor public events and festivals. We have a beautiful woodland site with great amenities, where we run our popular 4-hour nature holiday clubs for 5 – 11s. We also collaborate with other practitioners to host well-being events. What we'll do
Our space in the woods is laid out with a selection of enticing "invitations" to play and get involved. There's a balance between structured crafting activities and time for free play. • Natural crafts and outdoor art • Wild play, slackline, dens, hammocks • Use of tools for making things and woodland DIY • Campfire cookery • Messy play and mud kitchen (yes they still love this at 10!) • Mindfulness in nature, relaxation spaces • Games, challenges and stories The range of activities is carefully chosen to encourage children to try new things and stretch beyond their comfort zone, in a supported way. We start and end the session gathered together. After morning circle time, we walk the site in small groups - showing them the site boundaries, familiarising them with the space, and introducing them what's on offer. Activities differ each day of holiday club - no 2 days are alike! IMPORTANT INFO What to wear Please send them dressed for the weather. There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing! Old clothes and layers are ideal – plus waterproofs; and on the flip side, sunhats, suncream (please apply sun cream before you drop them with us.) Long sleeves, trousers and enclosed footwear are a must all times though – these offer protection from abrasions and grazes, sunburn and ticks. We ask parents to understand that children may get wet and muddy! What to bring A packed lunch, snacks and a water bottle. We will also provide top up snacks and water will be available throughout the day. Drop off / pick up Drop of is at 10am sharp in St John’s Church car park, St John’s Road, Crowborough, TN6 1RZ. The team and I will be there to meet you and register the children. We’ll assemble them as a group, then do the short walk ( 3 mins) to the Forest School site, through our woods - we have a gate leading directly from the Church car park. Please be punctual and help us out with a “drop and go” system. For collection at 2pm, we will walk the children back up to the car park, and meet you in the same place as you dropped them, in the Church car park. Please be sure to let us know at drop off if the person collecting is not yourself. Our site address is: Wild & Green Sussex, Churchside, Marden's Hill, Crowborough, TN6 1XW. (see the map "pin". Do note this is for reference only and pick up and drop off are at the Church Car Park) If you need to contact us: Louise mob 07788 713 587 louise@wildandgreensussex.org

About Forest School
Set outdoors, Forest School is a gentle child-centered learning approach offering a way to connect with nature and with each other. It encourages children to stretch beyond their comfort zone – firing up creativity whilst building body awareness, self-esteem, resilience and confidence. Here are some of the main ideas which shape our sessions. - We want the children to relax, have fun and connect with the natural world - experiencing the joys of imaginative play-based experiences in our woodland setting. - They will enjoy being part of a supportive group, finding their own starting points, supported by our staff. - They will benefit from a great social opportunity, and enjoy plenty of scope for creativity. - They’re encouraged to be physically active, learn new practical skills, and hopefully get a buzz from having a go – all in a safely managed way.
