A SUMMARY
Giants and gods, feuds, fates and foes... Norse myths are a timeless part of our culture and history. As a professional storyteller, I will make these myths come alive for you through performance and discussion. Who were the Vikings? What did they believe? What do their stories tell us about long ago - and about our lives today? With years of experience providing workshops for schools, I can tailor a session to lead you through these rich tales - with a chance for to create an original story as a group! I'll need a minimum of five bookings to go ahead. Once you book, I'll wait until we have enough people before confirming the session. Please share if you're interested! Look forward to seeing you soon.
About your mentor
Jonathan Mason
Storyteller, historian and enthusiasm-sharer!
I've been a professional storyteller for five years, in large part because of my love of the myths and legends of northern Europe. I've studied mythology and history my whole life out of sheer fascination, leading to a Masters degree and a professional course from the Ashmolean Museum in Telling for Heritage. I have designed and delivered workshops on Norse myths since 2015, for schools and more, as well as creating original performances for grownups. Past bookings and participants have said: "Jon came to Hangleton Primary during our Book week and completely entranced the children with oral storytelling of universal themes of bravery, journey and love." - Teacher “The session was spot-on. The children were entranced (we’ve never known them so quiet!). They also remembered many of the facts you had given them and are now raring to find out more.” - Teacher, Elm Grove Primary “Dear Jon, thank you so much for coming in to tell us Viking myths it was AMAZING!!!” - pupil, Hertford Junior School
