What we'll do
Come and enjoy the morning together in the woods and meet like-minded people. This three-hour session is designed to create a safe space to create and learn. We will spend the entire time outdoors among the trees, allowing you to explore and connect with nature while acquiring new skills. Mindfulness is a key focus throughout the session, guided by the philosophy that 'Busy hands create calm minds.' PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CHILDREN UNDER 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. Each session is dedicated to a single craft activity, where participants will work in small groups to create an item to take home, crafted by their own hands. Activities may include spoon whittling, fire starting with natural tinder's, weaving, making natural fibers, or using dyes derived from nature. There's truly an activity for everyone. We'll also come together for a campfire snack, weather allowing, so please notify me of any allergies or dietary restrictions when booking. Hot drinks are available throughout the session, and you'll have the pleasure of taking home your handmade creations. All staff are fully insured, DBS checked, and have completed safeguarding training. I am trained in outdoor first aid and am also a certified mental health first aider.
About your mentor
Kim at Little Trees
Assisting you to connect, discover, and succeed.
I've been working with children in a classroom setting for 13 years. My affinity for nature, the outdoors, and child education led me to Forest School, where I became a Level 3 Forest School practitioner in 2018. In early 2022, I embarked on a significant journey by establishing Little Trees Forest School, allowing me to work in the woods full-time. My passion lies in educating children outdoors through play. We embrace the outdoors throughout the year, utilizing what each season offers to teach care and respect for the environment. The children gain practical life skills such as tool use, fire lighting, problem-solving, and are encouraged to take manageable risks within a safe and closely supervised setting. Recently, I completed training to become a Therapeutic Forest School leader, which included instruction from a clinical psychologist on adult mental health. This has fueled my passion for encouraging adults to engage with nature. I believe that spending more time outdoors, with active hands, can lead to a tranquil mind, and nature facilitates this process. Additionally, I am trained in mental health first aid and outdoor first aid.
