Orchestra Of Objects Making Music Workshop (Wagner Hall)

A SUMMARY
As part of the Brighton Science Festival, come and meet the 'Pump-a-phone', 'Grass hopper', and 'Twisty-Bat' among other creations in this fun music workshop. I build tuned giant percussion instruments and sound sculptures and and invite you to join me in creating an experimental musical ensemble! The instruments are made from recycled industrial and domestic parts. They are big, colourful, and super enjoyable to play. Designed for multiple players the group is shown fun theatrical ways to conduct and control the ensemble using physical gestures and simple hand signals to control the tempo and dynamics of the sound. We explore different methods for creating fun rhythms as a large group and will learn a cool tune to play together based on Samba and African music.
