About your mentor
Bristol Horn Youth Concern
Ensuring bright futures for Bristol youth.
Bristol Horn Youth Concern is a community interest company (CIC) that was formed to support young people aged 11-19, mainly from an East African, though not exclusively Somali background. We provide a range of activities and support including sports, leadership skills, advice, and training on employment. Our aim is to provide positive opportunities and activities for young people to reduce the risk of falling into criminal activity including gangs, using drugs and anti-social behaviour. We educate young people on the consequences of their choices and empower them to make better choices and provide them with the tools to do so. We organise weekly sporting sessions including basketball and football for young people including girls. They are run by qualified sports coaches and youth workers. We also have detached youth work teams who go out into the community, make contact and engage with young people. They encourage them to join our activities. We do this proactively and also reactively in response to concerns from the community about antisocial behaviour.
A summary
Join us for a fun-filled and jam-packed session with arts and crafts, cultural language, poetry reading, dancing, henna, face painting, and much more! We will have our trusted Youth Workers at hand, who will help to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day. Every child attending will receive a meal and water. Active participation from young individuals helps foster long-lasting friendships and community connections, with these activities highly valued within our local community. All attendees can expect a warm reception from their neighbors. We have several free spaces for those in receipt of free school meals (eligibility checks will be carried out before confirming bookings).
