A SUMMARY
This course is aimed at the intermediate green woodworker, or for people who have already attended one of my stool making courses. You will gain a greater knowledge about trees and which materials are best to use for different applications. You will hone your green woodworking and carpentry skills and master new techniques and processes including steam bending. The course runs for 5 ½ days and is a relaxing and rewarding experience resulting in your very own beautiful chair which is designed to last more than 100 years. You will also gain the knowledge and confidence to then design and make your own green wood furniture.

When your mentor provides a strapline it will go here
I originally learned green woodworking whilst being filmed for the BBC series ‘Mastercrafts’ in 2009. I spent six wonderful weeks deep in a Dorset woodland being taught by a master craftsman which became a life changing event as I had been completely seduced by the idea of living in a cabin in the woods, and growing or making everything I needed. The seed had been planted for Forest Garden Shovelstrode and my new found skills were invaluable in our initial building stages. I have been teaching green woodworking at Forest Garden Shovelstrode for 10 years. I’ve taught many people with different abilities who have all proudly made a beautiful green wood chair. Becoming a green woodworker has been invaluable in managing our own woodland, and for my other role as 'Maintenance Man’ for Forest Garden Shovelstrode! When time permits I also enjoy making furniture and other products which we sell in our Forest Garden shop and at local markets. I teach small groups of up to only 5 people in order to give the individual attention required.
