A SUMMARY
A one day course which will teach you the basic principles behind beekeeping. You will learn about the various bee keeping methods, hives, equipment , how to care for and what is best to plant for bees. Whether you are planning to become a beekeeper, or just wish to know and understand more about our precious bees - this course will cover the lifecycle of the bee and look at the different theories on beekeeping. After lunch you will then be suited up for an open hive inspection. You should bring with you trousers, boots, long socks and leather or rubber gloves. Delicious home cooked lunch is provided with produce from our Forest Garden. Refreshments are available throughout the day. This course may be suitable for teenagers, please contact us to discuss suitability. This course will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm. Price: £85 includes lunch & refreshments. n.b. This course is weather dependent. Heavy rain and wind would prevent us from opening a hive and we may have to take the decision to cancel the course. In this instance you will be notified by email and you will be able to book on to an alternative date.

Oliver Sinclair The Introduction to Beekeeping is run by highly experienced and passionate beekeeper Oliver Sinclair. He has been the Chairman of East Grinstead Beekeepers Association for the last five years and has led the organisation in improving the local community’s understanding of honey bees . Over the years Oliver has mentored many succesful beekeepers.
