Library: Bury St Edmunds Library, Sergeants Walk, St Andrews Street North, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 1TZ 29 December: Book Binding Workshop with Hazel Garrity 30 December: Make Your Own Short Film Using 2D Stop Frame Animation with Artist Lulu Horsfield 2 January: Music and Visual Arts Workshop with Creative Duo Ben Brown and Catalina Carvajal Workshop Details: Monday 29 December 2025 09:45am - 15:30pm Book Binding Workshop with Hazel Garrity In a relaxed, supportive atmosphere we will be making beautiful hand-crafted notebooks using traditional bookbinding techniques and tools. Follow step-by-step demonstrations and surprise yourself by learning new skills. You will create two unique books from scratch choosing from a range of colourful papers and adding your own special design details. The second book would make a great New Year’s gift for a friend or family member. Show your appreciation for someone important to you by making a book which reflects their personality and interests. All materials will be provided. About Hazel: Hazel's chief enthusiasms have always been words, books and making things. As a secondary school English teacher, she has worked with young people to give them the confidence to be creative with language. Now she wants to explore the possibilities offered by combining words with the traditional craft of constructing books in different forms and expressing ideas in different ways. Tuesday 30 December 2025 09:45am - 15:30pm Make Your Own Short Film Using 2D Stop Frame Animation with Artist Lulu Horsfield This one-day workshop will introduce future animators to 2D stop frame animation using their own ideas, artwork and storytelling skills. We will encourage participants to tell their own stories through moving image, by exploring 2D methods of animation using iPad technology. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own artwork in different ways and learn how to work with stop frame animation techniques to make their own short film. About Lulu: Lulu is a highly experienced and versatile visual artist, working across a variety of our programmes. As founder and co-director of AMPP Studio, and previously Rock Paper Scissors, Lulu teaches art and design to all ages and has worked as a designer and illustrator across fashion, textiles, editorial, music and film. In past ventures, Lulu has sold her illustrated fashion label through House of Fraser, and also showcased a film made with her husband film maker Jim Horsfield at Tate Britain. Friday 2 January 2025 09:45am - 15:30pm Music and Design Workshop with Creative Duo Ben Brown and Catalina Carvajal Join musician Ben Brown and visual artist Catalina Carvajal for this creative workshop where you'll be invited to explore your innate creativity and spontaneously produce exciting and unique works of audio and visual art. About Ben: Ben is a social musician and composer based in Manningtree. He is passionate about music making in all settings and with all groups of people. He believes everybody is musical and that anyone can make music with anyone else, and is privileged to be able to facilitate this process; it is a source of unending inspiration and enjoyment. About Catalina: Cat is a visual artist with a passion for illustration, murals, storytelling, and colour. She's also passionate about music and has designed several album covers. You can find her mural work around East Anglia. Catalina enjoys working with digital and mixed media and takes inspiration from drawing in her sketchbooks, listening to music and observing the world. She is originally from Colombia and lived in Mexico before arriving in the UK seven years ago.
