What we'll do
This is a chance for home-educated and flexi-schooled children (ages 5-16) to spend a day (5 hrs) with the Woodland Wellbeings team in 'our home' woodland space. Now OFSTED registered (No. 2748898) We will provide a learner-led forest school environment in our secure woodland, complete with campfire, tarps and dens, tools, slack lines, swings, hammocks, s'mores, hot chocolate and more. All equipment and instruction will be provided, as will hot drinks and light snacks. Please make sure your child/ren come(s) to the woods with a robust lunch and suitable clothing including waterproofs! We hope to see you, 'Being and Growing Outside'. Woodland Wellbeings CIC.
About your mentors
Ged
'Being and Growing Outdoors'.
I've been working in education for over 20 years! I've been a techician, teacher, AST, Head of Dept, but once I trained outdoors it was all over! Connections. With people, nature and your self. Being, a human being, whatever that means to each of us. The woods is a mirror! Come and have a look! G.

I first came to Forest School in 2018 as a parent with my 2 small boys and I am thankful to have found my home within this brilliant community. I started out as a Playworker, leading wrap around childcare and holiday clubs, trained and worked as a Primary School Teacher and completed my Forest School L3 in 2022. I often joke that I'm a 'reformed' Teacher but my heart, and much of my practice in Early Years, has always been outdoors. Over the last 5 years I've experienced for myself and observed in others (my own children and groups we have had the pleasure of being with in the woods), the positive impact of Forest School on wellbeing, self esteem, relationships to name a few. And will continue to advocate for and work towards equitable access to urban green spaces.

I qualified as a Forest School leader in 2014 and have delivered sessions to a wide range of participants, predominantly primary aged children from a special school. I am passionate about the benefits of Forest School, and as a Trustee of the Forest School Association believe - and deliver - 'full fat' Forest School. I am never happier than when outdoors and learning; much of the CPD I have attended has been around needs-based approaches and behaviour. I have been studying Choice Theory since 2019 and attained Certification in April 2022.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
