Stoneware Clay Wall Hanging Workshop
Mentored by Jenny Wightwick
For ages: 18+ years
A SUMMARY
Using stoneware clay and the slab rolling technique, a piece of clay will be used as a blank canvas for pressing leaves and other items gathered from the garden to create a collage of marks and texture. Coloured slips will be used to add detail. Holes will be made before the piece is fired, enabling string to be added and the finished item hung. The workshop will begin with a coffee and chat with Jenny. All techniques will be demonstrated, and you will be encouraged to experiment with your own ideas in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying the views from Jenny's workshop in rural Sussex. Your work will be glazed and fired and be ready for you to collect around two weeks after the workshop. No experience necessary. Drinks and biscuits will be provided during the day, please bring your own packed lunch.
