A SUMMARY

Join in for a beginners brush lettering class to turn your writing into a wonderful art! This 2h class includes a full lettering kit to keep and take home and a hot drink of your choice. About the class: During the workshop we will be practising strokes and letters using the alphabet worksheets. After warming up our hands, we will move onto lettering inspirational phrases and quotes - creating your very own set of posters, gift tags and cards. All tools are included and for you to keep. We will be using three different pens, which will help you to experiment and develop your own style. There will be plenty of help to guide you and answer any questions. By the end of the workshop you will have learned the basics of brush lettering and have a kit of materials to keep practicing. Hello, I'm Alina, a full time calligraphy artist. I've been practicing lettering since 2016 and have grown it into a full time job. I've been teaching calligraphy workshops since 2019, mainly in East Sussex and London, and I absolutely love spreading the joy of lettering and watching people fall in love with this wonderful skill. I enjoy teaching beginner courses, but I also offer follow up classes if you wish to take your new hobby further. I'm here to help you to kickstart your lettering journey and share as much as I can to help you learn in a productive way.

Learning aims

To be able to letter words and phrases in a beautiful modern calligraphy style with different pens and approaches. You will be able to apply your new skill to stationery projects, such as journaling, place card making, greeting card making and many more.

Strengths to develop

Your body is your greatest tool! You will be learning to build a muscle memory when applying pressure to the strokes of your letters. You will notice a difference between your handwriting and brush lettering practice as we will be engaging our whole arm when lettering, instead of only moving our wrist.
