What we'll do
When you arrive at the club you will get some time to get to know the other children. You will then be provided with a healthy breakfast before we split everyone into 2 groups with some children doing a Mini Athletics session and the remainder doing arts and crafts. After a snack break, the groups will swap places and participate in the other activity leading into the lunch break where we will provide a healthy hot meal cooked on the premises. In the afternoon, there will be further sessions of Mini Athletics and other activities, including the opportunity to participate in a different sport. Sessions will be run by experienced Mini Athletics Coaches and Activities will be coordinated by a qualified Teacher.
About your mentor
Mini Athletics
Developing physical, social & cognitive skills
Through a structured, yet fun format, we enhance athleticism of 4 - 8 year olds, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. Children need to learn basic skills of running, jumping and throwing in order to enhance sporting competence and confidence. Therefore, Mini Athletics enhances athleticism through a progressive model of balance, co-ordination, speed and agility exercises. Research has shown that a structured program of movement should be part of every child’s education. In our early years class, children start to learn the format and how to take instruction. In our older classes, we progress the cognitive element further by introducing two-step instructions and implementing these in competitive athletic events. Through extensive research, the Mini Athletics program was created to enhance positive personality characteristics such as confidence, self-esteem, sharing and communicating. This is achieved with our excellent lesson plans and positive coaching methods. A positive introduction to sport is absolutely vital to enhance participation through life.
Inclusive
HAF clubs are inclusive for children with low levels of SEN and/or disability, who can participate in universal settings. We also have specialist programmes for those children and young people who require specialist support. Each Club will assess their suitability to provide sufficient support, based on your child/young person’s needs, on a case-by-case basis. Email us for any queries on HAF@newham.gov.uk.

Cancellation Policy
Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.

My experience consists of a leisure activity, on a specific date(s), and therefore the 14-day ‘cooling off period’ under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
