About your Mentor

About your Mentor

Atlanta

Since I was a 10 year old on the brunt end of the relationship humans have with their trash, resulting in a cut to my foot that stopped me from being able to able to run properly until I was 21 years old, I have been fascinated with marine pollution and the waste streams that damage our ocean environments. I am an independent marine environment consultant, former Co-ordinator of Seas At Risk Federation, an Honorary Life Member of Surfers Against Sewage, and one of their Brighton Regional Reps. I am a member of Ocean's 8 Brighton and run regular 'Teach On The Beach' education stands at local beach cleans and events, as well as workshops for children and adults. Since the birth of my daughter in 2005, I have been sharing my professional knowledge of marine pollution with children from pre-school to college. In a bid to facilitate behaviour change for the good of the environment, I love to connect children with nature and watch their understanding develop into positive action.
