A summary
As Forest School practitioners we are sometimes left holding emotional and tricky feelings which clients may express in the woodland space. This can sometimes feel difficult to know what to do with. The FSA are exploring what supervision might look like for practitioners to access. Do you think it would be helpful to have a safe and confidential supportive space to be able to share your client work and not feel so alone in it? What might that look like? This workshop will be a brief introduction to what supervision is and different approaches The potential of how supervision might be accessible for Forest School practitioners with a brief experiential group supervision session.
About your mentors
Nicola Poole Second Nature
Nature Therapist and Counsellor
Coming from a creative education background, I found Forest School and qualified as a leader in my 40s. For 11 years I worked with YrR-Yr6 over two schools, embedding FS in all year groups, every week, all year and ran week long summer schools. I’ve offered inset to other schools, supporting confidence in taking children outside underpinned by FS principles as well as co-ordinating an Outdoor Learning Network over a broad area of schools in Norfolk. I was chair of FSA Norfolk when first established. Training as a counsellor was sparked in the woodland when I felt unskilled supporting young people who were struggling with mental health and trauma. Taking my creative, Forest School, therapeutic approaches and experiences, I now offer nature therapy in a private woodland as well as working as a youth counsellor for a local charity and am currently training as a supervisor to support school staff.
