A summary
We timetable the most awesome activities to create our Multi-Activity programme. Children are grouped by age to enjoy active games and activities, specifically chosen to turn up the fun whilst giving them the chance to learn new skills, make friends and build confidence! The Multi-Activity programme fits into 3 main areas and timetabling allows students to experience at least one activity from each these per day: ·EXTREME (Bouncy castle, sumo wrestling and Archery) offer risk taking and character development and a better understanding of how to keep safe. SPORTS (Football, Dodgeball, Basketball, Badminton, Tennis, Rugby and Rounders) improve and enhance skill development and resilience among learners. ARTS AND CRAFT (clay modelling, paper mache frames, painting and drawing) sessions are carefully thought out to make sure they’re age appropriate for each group at camp.
About your mentors
APF ACTIVITY CAMPS
MAKING MEMORIES THAT LAST A LIFETIME
We offer children a once in a lifetime experience and operate day camps, as well as a placement service to refer parents to the right camp to meet each child’s needs. FREE camps are also available and staffed with counselors who specialise in the special needs of newly arrived refugee families and our most vulnerable children.
Maddy Ratford
Friendly, compassionate and kind
My name is Maddy Ratford and I am currently studying Geography at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. I have completely my GCSE’s and A-Levels and enjoyed doing activities outside of school including Bronze DofE and volunteering. I have a passion for climbing and have continued this in university by joining the climbing society. I enjoy being active and regularly go to the gym. I previously volunteered at my local Beaver Scouts as a young leader and APF had given me the opportunity to have more responsibility as the manager role. I love being there for the kids and providing a fun experience for them during their school holidays.
Learning aims
Aim 1
Spend your day being physically active – As children spend so much time these days inside and mostly sitting down, camp provides a wonderful opportunity to move. Running…..jumping…….climbing all help you to be more healthy.
Aim 3
Develop resilience – The kind of encouragement and nurture children receive at APF makes it a great environment to endure setbacks, try new things, and see that improvement comes when you give something another try. Camp helps conquer fears.
Aim 5
Develop friendships – Camp is the place where children make their very best friends. Free from the social expectations pressuring them at school, we encourage children to relax and make friends easily. All the fun at camp draws everyone together— singing, laughing, talking, playing, doing almost everything together.
Aim 2
Develop life-long skills – Camps provide the right instruction, equipment and facilities for children to enhance their sports abilities, their artistic talents, and their adventure skills. The variety of activities offered at camp makes it easy for children to discover and develop what they like to do.
Aim 4
Have free time for unstructured play – Free from the overly-structured, overly-scheduled routines of home and school, life at camp gives children much needed free time to just play…….relax, laugh, and be silly all day long. At camp we play!
Aim 6
Experience success and become more confident – APF camps helps children build self-confidence by removing the kind of academic, athletic and social competition that shapes their lives at school. Camp teaches kids that they can.
